🤖 Atlas Wants An Hour

Good Morning, Roboticists!
Boston Dynamics wants to build a humanoid in an hour. Nine months suddenly sounds like a very inefficient production cycle.
Atlas Wants An Hour

TL;DR: Boston Dynamics says building an Atlas currently takes roughly a day in its prototype operations shop, where machining, assembly, and repair sit together. Senior Technical Program Manager Katie Conner says the team wants that cycle down to about an hour next year. The video shows an ambition for faster development, not a proven hourly shipment rate. Shanghai Bets On 8,000 Humanoids

TL;DR: Shanghai has set a 2028 target to put 8,000 humanoid robots into factories under a new intelligent-manufacturing action. The same plan calls for 500 advanced smart factories, more than 2,000 AI manufacturing use cases, and industrial robot density of 600 per 10,000 workers. It is a deployment goal, not evidence that the robots are already working. Read more →
Laundry Gets One Shared Brain

TL;DR: NEURA Robotics introduced Neuron AI, a multimodal model that combines 3D vision, touch, audio, robot state, language, and memory across five of its robot bodies. Trained with robot data, simulation, and human demonstrations, it can be fine-tuned through Neuraverse. At NVIDIA GTC Berlin, NEURA says its 4NE1 humanoid will run an eleven-minute autonomous laundry task. Read more →
Gas Stations Start Cooking

TL;DR: At Munich’s Allguth station on Chiemgaustraße, goodBytz has opened a robotic kitchen that cooks fresh meals around the clock. Two robot arms dose ingredients, cook, plate, and clean within a compact system while staff prepare and refill supplies. The operator says it can cook eight dishes at once, or as many as 120 meals an hour under optimal conditions. Read more →
Drones Stop Waiting To Charge

TL;DR: DJI launched Dock 4, a drone-in-a-box system built around an automated battery swap that takes 25 seconds rather than a lengthy recharge. Its Matrice 5TD drone combines wide-angle and infrared cameras, LiDAR, mmWave radar, and AI object detection. DJI is pitching the setup for inspections, security, and emergency response where the next flight needs to begin almost immediately. Read more →
Robots Get A Second Signal

TL;DR: FORT Robotics launched Connectivity Aggregation, software that combines cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi, and tactical radio links so remote machines can keep operating when one network fails. Announced at AUSA, the system is already rolling out with unnamed defense customers. FORT frames the work around remote operation, where a dropped signal can mean losing control or visibility over a large machine. Read more →
Seven Guards Take The Plaza

TL;DR: Robotic Assistance Devices received an order for seven ROSA security units from a new municipal customer in a major Midwestern city. The units will guard a civic plaza, detecting and actively deterring loitering, trespassing, and suspicious behavior. The buyer’s city remains undisclosed, but RAD says the city council joined the selection process and approved the funding for the deployment. Read more →
A Finger Gets A Robot

TL;DR: KAIST researchers unveiled BeetleBot, a small soft robot that walks and grasps with artificial muscles and can be directed by a finger-worn gesture patch. Its camera and tactile sensors send back images and contact information while a user handles objects remotely. The team sees the beetle-inspired machine working in confined sites where inspection or retrieval is difficult for people. Read more →
Soft Fish Lose The Rails

TL;DR: Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Shenyang institute reported a soft robotic fish that pairs an electrohydraulic tail with an artificial swim bladder for fast swimming and three-dimensional movement. The design uses buoyancy control to alter posture while its flexible body propels it. The work points toward underwater robots that can move nimbly without the rigid mechanics of vehicles. A $200M Robot Marriage

TL;DR: FF EAI Robotics Ecosystem signed definitive agreements to acquire Faraday Future’s robotics business in an all-stock deal valuing those assets at about $200 million. The companies expect closing by the end of October, subject to completion, and say the combined public company will focus on humanoid, bionic, and related embodied-AI products. For now, it is a transaction, not a deployment. Read more →
